In this session guest speaker Helena Yang will provide an overview of the definition of U.S. tax residency and explore the U.S. income tax implications and foreign disclosure requirements associated with common types of foreign assets held by U.S. tax residents.

Helena Yang is a tax manager at Spott, Lucey & Wall, Inc. CPAs. Helena’s diverse portfolio of clients includes High-Net-Worth individuals, complex partnerships with global operations and investments, as well as multi-national and multi-state companies. She specializes in working with high-net-worth families, their US and foreign Trusts, and family-owned businesses. She also has substantial experience on reporting of controlled foreign corporations (CFCs) and passive foreign investment companies (PFICs). Helena is a certified public accountant and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and Business Administration as well as a Master of Business Taxation from the University of Southern California. She is an active member of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants, and regularly attends various international business events around the Bay Area.
