Join us for this special chapter encore presentation brought to you by FPA of Central Ohio. In the midst of the pandemic, a shift to self-employment and side hustles is underway. Clients are looking for ways to generate more income, save more money, and have more work-life balance. This presentation will provide practical tools and information for planners to counsel clients looking to make the jump to self-employment, including a discussion of the opportunities, challenges and tax and advice implications.

Help clients understand their options for establishing a business entity or reporting self-employment income, and help determine which to select and when to switch

Help clients understand their personal tax obligations as a self-employed individual or business owner, for reporting, payments and filings

Help clients understand tax benefits and deductions available under the TCJA for self-employed individuals and business owners, and how to take advantage of them

Kevin Clark, CFP®

Financial Advisor, Highview Advisor Group

Kevin is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ and Certified Investment Management Analyst® based in Columbus, Ohio. He primarily serves small business owners, retirees, and individuals aged 40 and under, and he is currently completing requirements to becoming an Enrolled Agent able to offer tax services to clients. Kevin served as FPA of Central Ohio’s NexGen Director in 2019 and currently acts as its Career Development Director. He has also served on multiple FPA committees at the national level, including this year’s NexGen One Day Experience task force. Kevin graduated from Ohio Northern University in 2011 with a BSBA in finance and management and previously worked at Fidelity Investments and Merrill Lynch prior to joining his current firm. He resides in the Short North district of downtown Columbus and spends his free time attending live sports and performing arts events when they’re not canceled by pandemics.
