This presentation will discuss current estate tax proposals and the different types of trusts that clients should consider.  When is a Revocable Trust necessary, or is TOD, POD, and joint property enough.  We will also cover Irrevocable Trusts, Special Needs Trusts, IRA Trusts, Spendthrift Trusts and Protective Trusts for children and other heirs.  Also discussed will be charitable trusts, SLATS, GRATs and intentionally defective trusts, as well as when and how an irrevocable trust can be changed or the Trustee removed.

  • Assess the pros and cons of certain types of trust arrangements vs. POD, TOD and Joint Property, and recommend which estate planning trust is right for each client
  • Understand the tax ramifications of different types of trusts
