Please join the African American Knowledge Circle as we kick off our national DEI webinar series during Black History Month.  Knowledge Circle host Chris Woods will lead a panel discussion featuring three industry trailblazers, Kamila Elliott, Saundra Davis and LeCount Davis.  On the webinar they will discuss a range of financial topics impacting the Black community including the wealth gap and what we can do as an industry to address them.

Kamila Elloitt, CFP®

President

GRID 202 Partners

Kamila is the President of GRID 202 Partners, a financial planning firm with locations in Washington DC, Georgia, and North Carolina. She has nearly two decades of financial planning and investment experience assisting high net worth individuals, endowments & foundations and business owners with comprehensive wealth solutions and holistic planning.

Kamila spent most of her professional career at Vanguard working with ultra-high net worth individuals and endowments & foundations, inclusive of major universities, hospitals, and other charitable organizations throughout the southeast U.S. Her client relationships ranged from $20M to $450M and represented $3B in total assets prior to leaving the role. She also worked at Dimensional Fund Advisors supporting financial advisors with investment solutions to meet the unique needs of their clients. 

Kamila is on the Board of Directors for the CFP Board. The CFP Board of Directors is the policymaking and oversight body of Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. for over 90,000 financial professionals in the U.S. She will be the Chair of the CFP Board in 2022, the first African American and one of the youngest ever to serve in the role. She serves on the Investment Committee for Women Against Abuse Inc. located in Philadelphia, PA and has been an active volunteer with the IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program.

Kamila obtained her B.A. and MBA from The Pennsylvania State University. She is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ and holds licenses for Life, Health and Long-Term Care Insurance. 

LeCount Davis, CFP®

Earned the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER designation granted by the College for Financial Planning in Denver, Colorado in 1978 becoming the first African American so designated. He has Bachelor and Master Degrees in Accounting from Southeastern University in Washington, DC. He was a lecturer and adjunct Accounting professor at Howard University in Washington, D.C.

Served as the Assistant Director of Finance for an international labor organization concentrating in the Caribbean and South America and as an Independent Investment Advisor for the Bahamas Hotel Industry Pension Fund and the Bahamas Hotel and Allied Workers Pension Fund.

Among his certifications, professional affiliations and honors received are the following: 

- Chosen as one of the Nation’s Best Certified Financial Planners by MoneyMagazine in 1987
- Advisor of the Federal funded program to provided technical assistance to local minority businessmen known as the D.C. Plan
- Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) – State of Maryland
- Past President and Board member –IAFP – National Capital (NCA) Chapter, now known as the Financial Planning Association (FPA)
- Founder of the Association of African American Financial Advisors (AAAA)
- Recipient of the 2008 Lifetime Achievement Award – FPA NCA Received the Trail Blazer Award – 2006 from AAAA
- Recipient of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority “2000 Community Service
- Award for Blazing New Trails in Economics”
- Former host of the Howard University TV (WHMM now WHUT) –“Common Cents” business program
- Chairman of the AAAA Foundation
- AAAA established the LeCount R. & Jewel W. Davis Scholarship
- Received the 2018 InvestmentNews Diversity &Inclusion Lifetime Achievement Award

Saundra Davis, MSFP, FFC®, FBS®

Saundra Davis, MSFP, FFC®, FBS® is a US Navy veteran, financial coach, speaker, educator, and consultant who is nationally recognized as an expert in the financial coaching field and for her work with community-based organizations that focus on asset building for the working poor. She developed and facilitates the Financial Fitness Coach certification program to promote the highest standard for professional services for all people, irrespective of wealth and income. Her experience in the U.S. Navy and her twenty years serving community-based organizations led her to the reality that the best way to help people find a path out of poverty is to help them become their OWN financial expert.

Ms. Davis is the founder and Executive Director of Sage Financial Solutions, a San Francisco Bay Area based organization that develops comprehensive financial capability programs for low- and moderate-income communities throughout the United States. She is a Financial Behavior Specialist FBS® and her philosophy of the financial continuum of care continues to shape the financial capability and coaching efforts around the country. Saundra has been an active proponent of building a more inclusive financial planning community and has served on the Financial Planning Association local and national pro bono and diversity committees.

Saundra holds a B.S. in Management and an M.S. in Financial Planning from Golden Gate University where she is currently a Distinguished Adjunct Professor in the Personal Financial Planning program.
