John York, CPA, CFP®

Cross-Border Financial Planner

White Lighthouse Investment Management

John York joined White Lighthouse in June 2021 as a Cross-Border Financial Planner and brings over a decade of experience to the team. He began his career in 2012, splitting time between the broad audit and tax specializations. From inventory counts at remote lumber yards and forensic accounting at golf clubs to preparing and reviewing C-Corp, S-corp, partnership, and individual returns, there is not much he has not seen in the financial world. He earned his CPA license in 2015 and has been a CFP® certificant since 2021.

After helping with audits, reviews, compilations, and tax returns for clients in his beloved Pacific Northwest, John moved to New York City in 2016. Little did he know that, as he worked on clients who had invested in Passive Foreign Investment Companies, he'd soon join their ranks as an American abroad trying to avoid investing in them himself. He moved to Germany in November 2019 and has been working exclusively on expatriate issues ever since. Passionate about improving the financial lives of his fellow expats, John also worked on building accessible solutions at two European startups before joining Jonathan's team, where he is excited to proactively provide more in-depth options when facing the most complex international obstacles out there.
