Quiddity: “The basic nature or quality of something, that makes it different from other things.” The presentation will walk participants through the asset class highlighting the differences between preferred equity versus stocks and bonds.

  • The participant will better understand the unique benefits and features of preferred equity.
  • The history of preferred equity yields, returns, and correlation to other assets.
  • The participant will learn how to determine if passive or active investment management is best to use.

JR’s experience in the financial industry spans almost 30 years, and he serves as senior portfolio manager for Innovative Portfolios. With 13-plus years of experience managing fixed-income portfolios for SMAs, JR has worked extensively in alternative asset allocations.

JR holds a BBA. degree in Finance from Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia, where he was a member of Omicron Delta Epsilon, International Honor Society for Economics. JR holds both the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) designation. He is a member of the CFA Institute, the CFA Society of Indianapolis, and the CAIA Association.
