As clients live longer, financial planning increasingly intersects with health, caregiving, housing, family support, legal decision-making, care costs. This presentation will help advisors understand why longevity planning is becoming essential and how to address these needs proactively. Participants will learn to recognize key client triggers, identify gaps in traditional retirement planning, use a five-pillar framework to assess longevity readiness, integrate these conversations into existing planning relationships. Advisors will leave with a practical approach to connect emerging needs to the financial plan and appropriate resources, without becoming aging-care experts themselves.
Competency Level: Overview
FPA Competency: Critical Thinking, Interpersonal Impact
CFP Board Topic: General Principles of Financial Planning, Retirement Savings & Income Planning
CFP Board CE Credit Hours: TBD

- Describe the five pillars of Longevity Readiness—Health, Home & Community, Family & Support, Legal & Legacy, and Financial—and explain how each can reveal potential planning gaps.
- Apply a four-step longevity planning process—Introduce, Discover, Plan/Review, and Activate—to an existing client relationship in order to connect emerging needs to the financial plan and determine when outside resources may be appropriate.
