Share Your Expertise
FPA invites you to submit a webinar proposal to share your expertise and contribute educational content for financial planning professionals.
What We’re Looking For
Educational webinars that:
- Focus on practical, applicable strategies for financial planning professionals.
- Align with one or more of the CFP Board’s Principal Knowledge Topics.
What You Provide
- A clear, focused presentation with real-world takeaways.
- A multiple-choice quiz based on your session (no True/False or Yes/No questions).
- Handouts or slides for attendees.
- Willingness to share your contact info for follow-up questions.
FPA purposefully seeks a wide variety of topics; however, submissions focused on one or more of CFP Board’s Principal Knowledge Topics are particularly encouraged.
Presentation proposals will be selected based on certain general criteria:
- Quality of the proposal (e.g., description and learning objectives well written and aligned with the needs of the profession)
- Grounding in research
- Practical application
- Evidence of previous presentation experience and expertise among the presenter(s)
Webinar Format:
We offer flexible formats and are open to a variety of session lengths and structures, including:
- Standard webinars: 60 minutes total (typically 45–50 minutes of content with Q&A)
- Micro-sessions: 20–30 minute focused sessions on a specific topic or skill
- Extended sessions: Longer-format deep dives when the topic warrants more time
- Multi-session series: Cohesive sessions delivered across multiple dates
All sessions are delivered live via Zoom and encourage participant engagement through Q&A and interactive elements such as polling.
We invite proposals for future webinar programming. There is no deadline for submission and presenters will be notified via email regarding the status of their proposals. Interested parties should review the FAQ for Webinar Presenters below before completing the online submission form.
Frequently Asked Questions for Webinar Presenters
How do I present a webinar and am I equipped?
Webinars simply require a phone line, or a computer with a webcam, and an Internet connection. Presenters will need to conduct the webinar by speaking into a phone line or computer and navigating the PowerPoint slides (and any other audio or video files) at their own pace using their computer. All presenters will have an opportunity to do a practice dry run (“prep call”) a few days before the actual webinar.
Presenters should avoid using speakerphone during the presentation. We recommend using a headset or talking directly into the receiver.
If there is more than one presenter, those not speaking should plan on muting their lines during those periods.
What kind of webinar is FPA looking for?
FPA typically prefer webinars that have a clear practical focus for working professionals in financial planning. And we encourage presentations to be focused on one or more of CFP Board’s Principal Knowledge Topics. Data indicates the most preferred content categories are retirement savings and income planning, estate planning, and investment planning.
What format is used?
Zoom
Can participants interact with the presenters?
Participants can submit questions throughout the webinar, which will be moderated and facilitated either by FPA staff or the presenters. How questions will be handled can be discussed before the webinar. Presenters may also engage participants using the live polling feature.
We ask that all presenters do the following:
- Complete the online submission form.
- Develop a five-question (four answer choices each) multiple choice exam based off the presentation. True/False and Yes/No question formats are not permitted.
- Provide resources (e.g., articles, manuscripts, manuals, scripts) or the presentation PowerPoint slides
- A practice “prep call” will be scheduled with you, so you have time to familiarize yourself with the format and technology.
How long does it take for the webinar to be archived and posted?
Typically, within a week.
Who owns the content once I do a presentation?
FPA retains rights to the recording and the webinar, but the presenter still has intellectual ownership of the content. In other words, nothing would prevent the presenter from using the same content in future presentations.
What are the expectations for me as a presenter outside of giving the presentation?
Willingness to share your email at the end of the presentation for attendees to contact you directly with questions.
How long until I find out about the outcome of my proposal?
Expect to hear from a FPA staff member in one to two weeks.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact learning@onefpa.org. Organizations or strategic partner firms should contact strategicpartnerships@onefpa.org to coordinate the webinar proposal submission.
